FAQs
What is a group of ducks called?
A group of ducks is called a raft, team or paddling. Wow, this was news to us all.
Why don’t ducks get drenched?
A duck’s feathers are so waterproof that even when the duck dives underwater, its downy underlayer of feathers will stay completely dry and keep the duck warm. Howzat!
Do all ducks quack?
Most male ducks are silent and very few ducks actually “quack.” Instead, their calls may include squeaks, grunts, groans, chirps, whistles, brays and growls. Females can also make a wide range of different noises, and they are usually more vocal than males – same in our household!
Which are the most famous ducks?
The two most famous fictional ducks are Disney’s Donald Duck, who premiered in 1934, and Warner Bros.’ Daffy Duck, who premiered in 1937. Ducks have also been spokesbirds for companies or featured in advertising campaigns. Who would’ve thought!
How high can ducks fly?
Ducks normally migrate between 200 and 4,000 feet in the air, but are capable of reaching far greater heights. A jet plane over Nevada once struck a Mallard at an altitude of 21,000 feet! This is currently the highest recorded flight of any duck! We’re aiming for higher.
